    'AN EXTRA tax on residents' - that is how council plans to charge residents to recycle their garden waste have been branded. The district council's cabinet is considering introducing a £40 charge to every household in the district with a green bin as a means of meeting a budget shortfall.   • Crowds flock to Tudor fair

    VISITORS to Mary Arden's farm soaked up the sun for a Tudor extravaganza at the weekend. The first Tudor Hiring Fair and Market pulled in the crowds as they were transported back to the 16th century. The three-day event featured traditional Tudor workers gathering to showcase their skills in effort to be hired at the farm. Alongside the hiring ceremony was everything from live music and demonstrations to archery and Elizabethan dancing. »

  • Nuneaton townsfolk hit back over Herald slur

    NUNEATON townspeople have hit back at a slur on their town which appeared on the front of a local newspaper. Last week's Stratford Herald carried a front page story with the headline 'Nuneaton better than 'scruffy' Stratford?'. It included comments by a concerned Stratford trader and inferred the town's north Warwickshire neighbour was a low benchmark which it had fallen below.
