Shooting
Binton B hold the edge

20/12 Updated: 20/12 17:07

BINTON B enjoyed a narrow 199-196 victory over Avenue-RBL in a low scoring Stratford Air Gun League encounter.

The clash was not typical of what both teams are capable of but there were two exceptions with Bill Fleming hitting 32 and Alison McMillan 31.

Joe Powell shot three bulls but a three left him with 30 points and Diane Hodges shot two bulls but again a three left her with 29.

Chris Green kept out of the threes but could not find the bull so scored 28, while Rob Johnson and Sam Powell both shot 27 and Gordon O’nions 26 to give Binton their second lowest score of the season.

For Avenue-RBL, Steve Everett shot three bulls but a three left him with 30 points.

Peter Mole returned to the team following his holiday in warmer climes and with two bulls scored 29, while Guy Ganderton and Jo Everett both shot par 28s. Dee Green ended poorly and an A N Other score completed the haul.

Newcomers Clifford produced their best score of the season but it was not enough to prevent a 210-199 defeat against visitors Wilmcote.

Paul Clingan was first to the target and shot his second possible of the season, while Tim Stephens, who started with three bulls, added 31. John Maycock, Andrea Norris and Alan Brookes all shot 30, Lyn Brookes, who returned to shooting after a short absence, scored par 28 and Paul Boazman shot a below par 26.

Trevor Morris 32, Rachael Brookes 30 and Roy Brookes all turned in personal best scores for Clifford which might be attributed to the acquisition of a new team gun.

Tony Waters kept out of the threes for 29, Chris Ward shot steady fours for 28, Brian Smith and new shooter Amanda Pettitt both hit 27. Martin Robinson took time to settle into the target, putting his last pellet into the bull and Clifford had to discount the lowest of its eight shooters scores.

In-form Binton A cruised to a convincing 223-208 victory over Hoem Guard.

None of the eight Binton shooters scored less than 31 and they were led by Andy Smith who started with 34, his fifth pellet being the one that let him down.

Good support came from Simon Dale 32, Chris Reed 31, John Parrott 31, Neil Bragg 31, Alan Dyer 31, Neil Beningfield 31 and anchor man Will Cemis shot steadily for 33.

Home Guard tried hard and kept their shots tight with just one three on the target but they could not find the bull as frequently as Binton did. Jackie Mills top scored with 32 followed by Steve Hodges 31, Richard Mills 30, Derek Powers 30, Bill Gately 29, Joshua Bridge 28 and Irene Parsons 28.
