STRATFORD athlete Imogen Green started 2012 brightly with a record breaking performance in Sheffield.
Competing in the England Indoor Combined Events Championships, she faced a gruelling schedule of five events in one day.
Green started with a bang by recording a new pb in the 60m hurdles of 9.27 seconds which saw her lying second after the opening event.
She cleared a creditable 1-56m in the high lump and followed up by producing a solid throw and a new indoor pb of 9-58m in the shot.
Approaching the long jump event with a new run up she hit the board perfectly on each jump and shattered her previous indoor best by almost half a metre at 5-47m. Pushing the national champion all the way in the 800m, Green made it four out of five indoor pb’s and a new points total of 3,412.
It ensured she retained the Midland Championship title anmd finished fourth overall in a very strong field who all recorded personal bests on the day.
The rapidly improving Warwickshire College student and Birchfield Harrier said: “ Thanks to my winter training programme I feel stronger and fitter than ever.
“I am now looking to focus on my technical training for the rest of the indoor season, especially as I have been selected to compete for Birmingham Falcons in the McCain City Challenge back in Sheffield in early February.”
