Comets Hurricanes 25 Trust DCS 36

TRUST DCS kept their 100 per cent Stratford League winning record with a hard fought victory in a clash affected by the strong wind.

The first quarter was fast and furious with DCS shooter Emma Palmer playing well and managing to find the net despite the tricky conditions which enabled the visitors to lead 14-6 at the end of the first period.

Trust DCS lost a player at the end of the first quarter due to an anke injury but Freda Cronin stepped in and they continued to hold the upper hand, extending their lead to 21-11 at half time.

The third quarter was the highest scoring for both teams, Trust DCS’s Lindsey Fletcher played well all over the court and again the shooters were on form.

Comets Hurricanes enjoyed their best spell in the final quarter when they managed to score one more goal than Trust DCS.

But DCS took the five points to strengthen their grip at the top of the table.

Comets Storm 29 DCS All Stars 15

THE first game since December took place in probably the worst conditions ever with the wind making life difficult for the players.

The first quarter proved an extremely scrappy affair in which just five goals were scored as All Stars edged 3-2 ahead.

Storm adapted to the conditions much better in the second quiarter and they moved into a healthy 14-7 half time lead.

The conditions got worse during the third quarter and all the players found it hard to control the ball but again Comets Storm were the stronger side.

The defenders were on top form making it difficult for All Stars to get the ball into their shooters who only managed to get a further two goals.

The last quarter was All Stars best in the amount of goals scored as they were determined to salvage at least a point from this hard fought game against a strong Comets side.

Centre Sarah Hardy and wing attack Noha Krime performed well to get the ball to goal attack Freda Cronin and shooter Louise Weatherhead who shared a further six goals.

It secured a well deserved point but Comets added a further nine goals to finish comfortable winners.

Player of the match awards went to Comets Storms centre V Lineton and DCS All Stars goal attack Freda Cronin.
