Volunteers are rewarded

STRATFORD Cycling Club was represented at the British Cycling annual awards night at the Hilton Metropol at the NEC on Saturday night.

The event was attended by nearly 600 people from six disciplines of cycling.

There were around 200 award winners, including a trio from Stratford Cycling Club in the volunteering section.

Thomas Heenen won a club volunteer award for his hard work and dedication to the club.

Two young riders from the junior section, Thomas Lane and Kurtis Sequoyah, also won awards for achieving the Gold Young Volunteer Award by completing 36 hours of community volunteering.

Thomas won the Regional Young Volunteer Award in recognition of his outstanding work as a young volunteer.

It was a great achievement for the club as it shows the commitment and dedication of its members of all ages.

Without these volunteers the sport and the club would not be able to continue to grow and thrive.

It is particularly encouraging to see the young members being so involved in giving their time to the club as well as riding competitively.
