Local Guy lifts West Midlands title

NEWLY-appointed Stratford Squash Club coach Guy Pearson won the West Midland regional racketball competition at Stourbridge Squash Club over the weekend.

Having been Warwickshire junior champion for the past nine years, Pearson proved best from the six counties in the West Midlands.

Pearson, who was ranked No 1, received a bye in round one and followed up with success in three straight games in round two.

Pearson scamperted to another smart 3-0 success over Staffordshire No 2 Craig Chapel in the semi finals on Sunday morning.

It set up a final against Staffordshire No 1 Richard davies who finished runner-up in the national over 35 competition last year.

Pearson opened up a 10-6 lead in the opening game but Davis hit back to take it 12-10.

The Stratford coach responded in fine fashion to win the next three games 11–8, 11–9, 11-4 and lift the trophy.
