ORGANISERS of Stratford Fringe Festival travelled to London to spread the word ahead of the event.

The third festival, which takes place from June 2 to 10, will feature more than 160 performances, events and workshops at more than 40 venues featuring national and international headline acts alongside local talent.

Festival organisers, Stratforward BID, made the journey to London where they animated the concourse at Marylebone Station with a sneak preview of the art and entertainment that visitors can expect at the event.

With Fringe Festival flyers in hand they headed to Curious Duke Gallery, in Islington, to spread the word before making the journey back to Stratford.

A line-up featuring internationally renowned artists has already been secured for this year’s event and big name headline acts include TV comic, Milton Jones, and world music broadcasting legend, Andy Kershaw.

Now in its third year, nearly a third of all events are free and 2012 also sees an expanded offering for children, sponsored by Stratford Town Council and Stratford Town Trust.

As well as more than 20 visiting theatre companies, the festival will also feature a host of home-grown local talent drawn from all sectors of the arts.

Stratforward Bid project manager and Fringe Festival organiser Marion Morgan said: "From stand-up comedy, Senegalese dance and drums to art exhibitions, film festivals and a sing-a-long Mamma Mia, the Festival truly offers something for everyone, including over 20 different theatre productions and a range of free family events throughout the week.

"We are delighted to welcome Milton Jones to the Fringe Festival. He takes to the Civic Hall Stage at 9pm on June 8 and is expected to be a huge draw and crowd pleaser."
