OLD soldiers are being urged to share their memories to mark the 90th anniversary of the Stratford branch of the Royal British Legion.
The British Legion Poppy Appeal is setting up shop in Bard's Walk selling poppies from Monday (October 22) until Saturday November 10, from 10am until 4pm.
And there are also plans to feature an exhibition in the shop to celebrate 90 years of the town branch of the Royal British Legion.
Coun Chris Wall, the curator, is calling upon all ex-national servicemen who served between 1945 and 1962, to share photographs, memorabilia or written memories which could be included in the exhibition.
Coun Wall said: “The time is now right that we should collect the memories and record their times in service for future generations."
Visitors to the shop will also be able to sign a petition against Government plans to disband the Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers.
Thanks to the generosity of Susan James, Manager of Bard’s Walk, Poppy appeal organiser Maureen Wingate has been able to secure the shop for an extended period this year, and it is hoped to beat the £2,300 plus total raised last year in support of both serving and ex-armed service personnel.
The shop is also seeking volunteers for both the shop and as poppy sellers.
Anyone with memorabilia or who wants to volunteer should call Chris Wall on 01789 508396.
