A CANNABIS farm has been uncovered near Stratford.

Police raided an address in Snitterfield where they discovered an operation described as an "extensive and sophisticated cannabis cultivation set-up" on Thursday morning (November 8).

Officers discovered two large containers, similar to shipping containers buried in the ground at a small holding located just off the A46. Inside the containers police found hydroponics growing equipment, together with fans, air filtration and lighting equipment.

Inside a garage at the Kings Lane site they found another growing area with several plants growing in a screened off area.

A further cultivation unit was also discovered hidden inside a barn. The unit was concealed from view by hay bales which had been stacked around the third container, which was also fully equipped with hydroponics growing equipment, lighting and air filtration units.

Police seized around 100 fully mature cannabis plants and a large quantity of harvested cannabis from the site.

A man and a woman, both aged 48, were arrested on suspicion of cultivation of a prohibited drug. They have since been released on police bail until January, pending further enquiries.
