THOSE who lost their lives serving King, Queen, and country were remembered at the weekend.
There were services across the district on Sunday (November 11) - as Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day - when the guns fell silent at the end of the First World War - coincided.
Thousands attended services on a crisp sunny morning to honour the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. Holy Trinity vicar Martin Gorick told those gathered in and around the Garden of Remembrance in Stratford they were certainly not there to celebrate war - which was nothing to celebrate - but to recognise the courage of those who served and sadly never returned, from the First World War a century ago, through to more recent times in Afghanistan.
There was also a service at Stratford Cemetery on Friday (November 9) at the graves of the war dead.
