THE COUNTDOWN to Christmas has begun after the lights were switched on Thursday (November 22).
This year’s Christmas lights are now brightening up Stratford after they were switched on by Mayoress, Elaine Lloyd.
There was an afternoon of activities in the town centre leading up to the big switch-on including performances by Willow School choir who were accompanied by the KES King's Band.
And youngsters were given the opportunity to meet Santa as well as visiting his grotto during the evening's festivities.
Observer photographer Neville Collins took these photos at the event.
