THE FOCUS is global in a new photographic exhibition at the RST.
A World Elsewhere: Photo reportage from around the world brings together contemporary images of people, communities, places and cultures across the globe.
The exhibition - which ties in with the RSC’s forthcoming A World Elsewhere trilogy of newly adapted classics from around the world - showcases the work of more than 30 international artists, covering contemporary issues from remote tribes to the recent uprising in Libya.
Combining photojournalistic, portrait and travel photography, the show aims to shine a light on subjects that help shape the world.
A World Elsewhere is a quote from Shakespeare’s Coriolanus, reminding Rome’s citizens that there are other countries and people apart from their own. The plays which make up the RSC’s A World Elsewhere trilogy include The Orphan of Zhao; Boris Godunov, and A Life of Galileo.
The exhibition can be seen in the Swan Room until March 3. Admission is free.
