LEADERS Stratford Town bounced back to winning ways and strengthened their grip at the top of the Baker Joiner Midland Alliance table by beating Studley 4-0 at the DCS Stadium on Wednesday night.
The success lifted Town 13 points clear of second placed Stourport Swifts who were held to a 1-1 draw at Causeway United but do have two games in hand.
Town, who were looking to get back on track after their 2-1 defeat at Coventry Sphinx on Boxing Day, virtually wrapped up the points inside the opening 30 minutes as they stormed into a three goal lead and despite having midfielder Mark Faulds sent off after the break they finished comfortable winners.
Town opened the scoring after ten minutes when Tyrone Fagan flicked on Ashley Edwards’ long ball and striker Tony Robinson outpaced his marker before neatly slotting home.
New signing Lei Brown, who enjoyed a promising debut, doubled the advantage by firing home the rebound against one of his former clubs after visiting keeper Sheridan Martinez failed to hold a well struck shot from Fagan.
Robinson piled on the misery for Studley on the half hour mark by curling a 20-yard free kick around the wall and just inside the post.
Town suffered a setback early in the second half when Faulds was dismissed for a late challenge on Danny Charlton but there was no way back for the visitors and young substituite Jamie Molyneux completed the scoring with his first senior goal for the club in stoppage time.
Town continue their title challenge with a trip to eighth placed Boldmere St Michaels this Saturday (3pm).
