HUNDREDS of people living with heart problems in Stratford are set to benefit from a council cash grant.

Shipston-based charity Arrhythmia Alliance, which campaigns for improved diagnosis, treatment and management of heart rhythm disorders, has been given £3,625 by Warwickshire County Council.

The cash, which came from Coun Peter Balaam and Coun Ron Cockings' community grant budgets, will be used as part of a project to raise awaremness of the condition.

Arrhythmias - an irregular heartbeat - affect around 2 million people in the UK and the charity estimate hundreds in the district suffer but remain undiagnosed or without support.

Trudie Lobban, founder and CEO of Arrhythmia Alliance, said: “We are delighted to receive this funding as many people in Stratford with an arrhythmia are not receiving anywhere near the level of support they need.

“Having a heart rhythm disorder can take an immense physical and psychological strain on an individual and those closest to them, but with the right support this need not be the case.

“This grant will allow us to bring together patients and medical professionals in the area and in doing so improve care for heart rhythm disorders in Stratford district.”
