A FORMER Stratford College pupil is in line to win an Oscar.
Paul Taylor, who studied A Level Film Studies and BTEC Vocational Media at the college, will discover next week whether he can add Academy Award winner to his list of accolades.
After leaving college he became a producer, director and co-founder of production company, Rise Films. It is this company which has since been nominated in the Best Documentary Feature category for ‘The Invisible War’ at the ceremony.
Simon O’Grady, curriculum area manager for visual arts and media, said: “I am extremely proud of Paul. We felt fairly certain that it would happen eventually – he is a genuinely outstanding alumnus.”
And college principal Martin Penny added: “An award of this order is of no surprise. Paul always showed great promise during his time at the college.
“I am absolutely delighted for him and the college is immensely proud of his achievements. We all hope he can go the extra step and become an Oscar winner.”
The 85th Academy Awards ceremony takes place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles next Sunday (February 24).
