HUGELY controversial plans to build a wind farm in South Warwickshire have been rejected by council chiefs.
There had been fierce opposition from local residents to the proposals by Broadview Energy who wanted to build four turbines - up to a height of 125 metres - between the villages Bishops Itchington, Gaydon and Knightcote - next to the M40.
Officers had recommended the application be refused on the grounds the turbines would be an eyesore, a threat to aircraft safety, and the area was of archaeological importance.
And at the meeting on Tuesday evening (February 12) members of Stratford District Council planning committee east unanimously rejected the plans.
The meeting, which took place at Kineton High School and was attended by around 190 members of the public, was also broadcast live on the internet.
