Guided Walk: Winter Morning Bird Walk

Stratford Editorial 18th Jan, 2022   0

The Heart of England Forest invite you to a guided winter morning bird walk.

See what species of birds you can spot in the Heart of England Forest.

Date and time: Sat, 22 January 2022

Time: 08:30 – 10:30 GMT

Location: Alne Wood Park Natural Burial Ground, Spernal Lane, Great Alne, B49 6JG

At this time of year the Forest is home to scores of birds that migrate south to escape the snow and ice that covers their feeding grounds in the frozen north. Led by Aaron from the forestry team, they are happy to invite you to come and identify which feathered winter visitors can be found in Alne Wood in the Heart of England Forest

Enticed by the plentiful seeds, berries and insects, expect to see a variety of different species including hopefully, pasterines, redwings, fieldfare and redpoll. Learn about the migration routes these birds take and how the Heart of England Forest is supporting bird life through the year. Just don’t forget your binoculars.

Tickets are £5 with the option to further help grow the Forest by selecting a charity ticket which includes an extra donation. Children under 16 years are free and must be accompanied by an adult.

Whilst it’s an easy going walk with plenty of time to stop and observe our feathered visitors, the ground is uneven and could be wet and muddy so appropriate footwear and outdoor clothing for the weather on the day should be worn.

Register for the event here.
