Our mouth-watering food festival is back!

Bigger and better than ever, our Taste of the Mailbox festival returns next month with a tasty line-up of fabulous food and tempting tipples from some of the industry’s biggest names. The free event runs from August 2-4 with a line-up that’ll get those taste-buds tingling.

 

TRICKS OF THE TRADE FROM MICHELIN-STARRED BRAD CARTER

Birmingham’s very own Michelin Star chef Brad Carter will be cooking up a treat as he hosts an exclusive masterclass in Kitchen Gallery’s stunning Mailbox showroom on Saturday 3rd August, 12pm-2pm. The man behind the cult Carters of Moseley restaurant has gained an enviable reputation for his innovative menus and modern techniques and will showcases two courses* before answering your culinary queries. You’ll also receive a signed copy of Brad’s new book Staff as well as a selection of special Carters of Moseley gifts. Spaces are limited, so get in quick! Click to book. INDULGE IN A COCKTAIL … OR TWO


From and fancy and fruit to charismatic and creamy, our cocktail masterclasses offer budding mixologists the chance to shake up their very own creations. Throughout Taste of the Mailbox, we’re setting up a pop-up cocktail bar in our Urban Room with the experts from Aluna, Malmaison and Churchills guiding you through an impressive collection of concoctions. WINE TASTING WITH HARVEY NICHOLS

Join the experts at Harvey Nichols on Sunday August 4 for an informative wine tasting session highlighting five still and one sparkling wine from the exclusive Own Label collection. Siofra O’Brien will share her knowledge of each bottle and guests can tuck into a sharing cheese plate selected to perfectly complement the flavours. ENJOY COMPLIMENTARY NIBBLES

Take a tour around the world with our free samples on offer throughout the weekend. Head over to Canalside where Everyman Cinema, Red Peppers, Miller & Carter and Nandos will be handing out tasty mini treats.

 

BBQ DEMOS FROM LOW ‘N’ SLOW

Proving there’s more to barbecuing than just throwing on the meat and hoping for the best, Birmingham’s top street food vendor Andy Stubbs, of Low ‘N’ Slow, will be showing off his grill skills on Sunday August 4. He’ll be cooking delicious Longhorn steaks from Dunwood Farm, offering advice on what to look for when buying beef and revealing how to set up a two-zone al fresco cooking area.

 

CARIBBEAN COOKING WITH ORIGINAL FLAVA

Discover authentic Caribbean cuisine made simple with brothers Shaun and Craig McAnuff, better known as Instagram favourites Original Flava. With a huge online following and their very own cookbook, the talented duo will be hosting two demos on Saturday August 3 (2-3pm and 5-6pm) at Canalside where you’ll even be able to try their food for yourself. They’ll also be joining by BBC journalist Beccy Wood at 3.30pm in our Urban Room for a cookery Q&A. To reserve a seat, please click here.

FREE FOODIE FILMS

From 11am each day throughout our Taste weekend we’ll be showing classic family favourite films … all foodie themed, of course. Grab a seat in our Urban Room and relax with Chocolat (Friday August 2 – PG), James & the Giant Peach (Saturday August 3 – U) and Ratatouille (Sunday 4th August – PG).
