THE VICAR of Dibley is coming to Stratford.

The Bear Pit Theatre is celebrating 20 years since the classic comedy was first screened on TV, by staging its second Vicar of Dibley production with The Second Coming from December 5 to 13.

The arrival of a special new born gives the production a festive twist with Nicky Cox filling Dawn French’s boots as the larger than life Reverend Geraldine Granger, returning with many of the original cast from the Bear Pit’s first Vicar of Dibley production in 2013.

Carol Roache plays the pregnant Alice Horton and is herself expecting; Philip Hickson takes on the part of bumbling Parish Council Secretary Frank Pickles; David Derrington is the stammering Jim Trott, and Paul Tomlinson takes on the role of Owen Newitt.

Darren Love plays Hugo Horton, Roger Ganner is David Horton, Pamela Hickson is Mrs Tinker and Charlotte Froud plays Mary Tinker.

Bear Pit Artistic Director David Mears said: “The Second Coming is a real treat for everyone involved and the combination of such an entertaining script and our very talented cast, means that tickets are selling well and advance booking is recommended.”

The production can be seen at The United Reformed Church in Rother Street, with a matinee on Saturday December 6.
