All aboard for Stratford River Festival

Stratford Editorial 1st Jul, 2016 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

THE BOATS are moored and the deckchairs are out ahead of the Stratford River Festival.

This weekend will see thousands of people descend on Bancroft Gardens to enjoy food, drink, music and hopefully some sunshine.

Some 100 narrow boats are expected to moor up along the banks of the Avon, and a cardboard gondola, made by artist Will Alexander, will also make its maiden voyage before heading to the canals of Venice.

And two stages will host musical entertainment including six-piece band Mister Shakes and Glenn Miller tribute group Ashby Big Band, throughout the weekend.

The festival, orgainsed by Stratforward, has gone from strength to strength over the past eight years, and last year attracted some 60,000 revellers.
