Alcester 'Bake Off' boosts funds for Macmillan Cancer Support

Stratford Editorial 13th Oct, 2019   0

SWEET-TOOTHED residents were invited to judge the Great Alcester Bake Off.

Recruitment agency Arden Personnel raised £430 for Macmillan Cancer Support when it joined the nationwide ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ campaign.

A raffle also gave sales a boost with prizes donated by businesses including Hiller’s Farm Shop, The Orangery, Hot Pod Yoga and Studley Florist.

Prizes were awarded for the best tasting, best looking and ‘judge’s choice’ cake – selected by Observer photographer Marcus Mingins.

Arden Personnel’s managing director Lissa Fletcher’s red velvet cake made the cut in the ‘best tasting’ and ‘judge’s choice’ categories.

She said: “We are so pleased to have raised such a fantastic amount for Macmillan Cancer Support.

“We want to thank everyone who came along to the event, the people who baked cakes, and the businesses who donated prizes.”

Macmillan is almost entirely funded by donations and is facing a rising demand for its support of those with cancer and their families.
