Alcester residents called on for spot of spring-cleaning

THE RALLYING call has gone out to join Alcester’s annual Big Spring Clean and litter pick.

Organised by Litter Free Alcester, the day coincides with the Keep Britain Tidy Big Spring Clean 2018.

Chair Susan Juned is appealing for volunteers to join the event to make sure the historic market town is looking its best.

“This is out fourth year and we’re trying to get as many members of the community involved as possible,” she said.

The aim is to tackle those areas which escape the attention of the district and town council litter sweeps.

“I’ll be taking a walk around the town next week to see if there are any areas that particularly need attention but we’ll also be looking at the area towards the industrial estate and the old railway line,” said Susan.

“We’ll also be tackling litter left under hedges and which do not get a regular clean.”

Alcester’s Big Spring Clean is on Saturday March 3 and two sessions are planned, one from 10am to noon, and the second from noon to 2pm.

Meet at the Jubilee Centre in St Faith’s Road and all kit will be provided.
