Artists invited to join Open Studios trail

Stratford Editorial 3rd Jan, 2019   0

ARTISTS in Warwickshire are being invited to showcase their work.

The Warwickshire Open Studios event will return in June and is open to all – from passionate amateurs to professional artists.

The celebration of art includes paintings, photography, installations, glassware, stoneware, jewellery, printmaking, textiles and metalwork.

This year over 33,000 people visited artists’ houses and work spaces.

Event director Don Mason said: “Opening your studio or home or joining in with a group of artists has so many benefits for the artists who take part. It’s a great, low cost option to show people your work and share your techniques and inspirations. This helps build your network with current and potential collectors and will also hopefully lead to selling some of your work.

“But it’s not just about sales – having feedback and talking to others about your art is incredibly rewarding and invaluable in developing your practice and growing your confidence.”

Work can be displayed in a variety of ways from in homes and studios to pubs and barns. Some installations have even taken place in allotments, canal basins and railway carriages.

The Summer Warwickshire Open Studios (WOS) takes place from June 15 to 30.

The deadline to sign up is January 31. Participants must pay an £85 fee.
