Baby unit ball is glittering success

A SPARKLE and Shine Ball has been hailed a glittering success for local maternity services.

More than 130 people attended the ball at Ettington Chase Hotel in aid of Warwick Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit and the Birth & Babies Appeal – which is aiming to raise £200,000 to buy items such as iPads, which do not come as standard on the NHS.

More than £4,000 was raised through the event, which included a raffle and drinks reception.

It was organised by local supporters Lucy Field and Nicki Scott, who have raised more than £20,000 from fundraising events over the past two years.

Lucy said: “I am delighted how much we managed to raise from the night, it has always been my dream to put on a ball. I would like to thank everyone who helped us to make it such a huge success and also to help us hit our target.”

Their efforts have been praised by Jayne Blacklay, managing director at South Warwickshire Foundation Trust – which runs Warwick Hospital.

She said: “I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and am so pleased we managed to raise so much for two brilliant causes. The support on the night was overwhelming and will ensure that we can make our maternity services the best they can be.”
