Badger rescued after eight foot fall

Stratford Editorial 12th May, 2018   0

A BADGER was rescued after falling into an eight foot trench in Claverdon.

Steve Hawkes, who runs voluntary organisation Warwickshire Badger Group, was called out to help the trapped animal on Monday by the landowner who was unsure how long it had been there.

Steve clambered down and managed to coax it into a cage.

The badger was taken to a wildlife rescue sanctuary in Nuneaton and given pain relief, food and water.

Steve added: “It could have internal injuries or breaks which are not immediately apparent to the naked eye.

“Also being in a ditch for at least one night, and with the heat this morning and the added exhaustion of trying to escape, would not have done it a great deal of good that’s for sure.”

When recovered the badger will be released close to where he became trapped.
