Bancroft Gardens gets prestigious Green Flag Award

THE FLAG of success was flying high on Bancroft this week.

Coun Mike Brain gathered with council staff as they celebrated the Stratford park receiving a prestigious Green Flag Award.

The national awards – run by Keep Britain Tidy – are widely regarded as a benchmark of a quality park or green space, which is seen to be welcoming, clean, safe and secure.

And the Stratford park now joins some 1,600 other well-maintained gardens across the country having been awarded the prestigious accolade.

Coun Brain said: “Given the volume of residents and visitors using the site throughout the year, it’s always a challenge to ensure they are kept to the highest possible standard.

“However this award recognises the fact people in Stratford are benefiting from a green space of the very highest quality.”
