Budding musicians delighted by donation

Stratford Editorial 18th Nov, 2018   0

THE EARS of budding musicians at St Gregory’s Catholic School in Stratford are ringing with joy.

The school has received £1,000 towards a new music room from Persimmon Homes.

The housing developer donated the money after the school applied for its ‘Community Champions Scheme’.

The programme allows organisations to apply for funding up to £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.

Headteacher Jane McNally said: “We are currently fundraising to try and install a designated music area in our school. We are raising money for instruments, music stands and a projector.

“We care passionately about music and we strive to deliver high quality music teaching for all our children. We’re very proud to have been awarded the ‘Music Mark Award’ this year.

“Our school’s pupil council has highlighted music as a key area of development and the children have helped to develop the school’s plans. They have lots of ideas, including starting a school rock band.

“We thank Persimmon Homes for their donation as it puts us a step closer to reaching our target.”
