Bungalows bid rejected by planners

Stratford Editorial 12th Nov, 2016   0

PLANS to build bungalows in Long Marston have been rejected.

Developers Bloor Homes submitted plans to Stratford District Council to build 15 bungalows as the third phase of its development off Welford Road. Some 25 homes have already been approved to be built on a neighbouring site.

Objections were made by Long Marston Parish Council and 11 residents which included concerns about the village being ‘swamped’ with new homes, the fear of increased traffic, and lack of public transport to Stratford.

But 41 letters in support of the development were also received, and included from some residents saying they would like to downsize to a bungalow and free up larger homes for families.

The application was refused unanimously by the planning committee on Wednesday (November 9).
