Burglaries reported in Shipston area

Stratford Editorial 25th May, 2017 Updated: 25th May, 2017   0

POLICE are warning homeowners to be alert following a spate of burglaries and thefts around Shipston.

Thieves broke into a rural workshop in Idlicote and stole a number of power tools last weekend, and are also believed to have targeted a house near Newbold on Stour, taking the keys to a white Toyota, and then coming back later to steal it.

On the same weekend, in the early hours of Saturday morning, thieves used bolt croppers to break into a property in Honington. They failed to steal a quad bike but took a chainsaw.

They are thought to have gone on to Darlingscott where they were disturbed and fled while attempting to steal a car.

Burglars also broke into a farmhouse in Ilmington during the day on Monday. They made off with chainsaws and other machinery.

Police are urging people to be on the lookout for an ‘old and dirty’ looking red two-door 4×4, with a spare wheel attached on the back. Anyone with information should email [email protected]
