Cashless system RingGo introduced for on-street parking

ON-STREET parking in Warwickshire should be less hassle following the introduction of a new system allowing drivers to pay for parking online with their mobile phone.

Coun Peter Butlin, Warwickshire County Council’s transport spokesman, said the RingGo service had been a success in other parts of the country.

He said: “You can still pay for parking with cash, but mobile payment is being introduced as an alternative. This has a number of benefits, including the ability to extend your stay, within the allowed time limit, without having to return to your vehicle.”

The service – already in use in Stratford off-street car parks – allows users to pay for parking online, via text message or by calling a standard rate telephone number that will be displayed on signs.




Once registered, the service remembers a user’s vehicle and payment information and issues text reminders ten minutes before parking is due to run out.
