A SPECIAL event at a Stratford restaurant has helped raise £15,000 for charity.
Aladdin’s normally seats just over 100 people but the Tiddington restaurant had to be extended for the recent fund-raiser.
The event – in aid of the Stratford Hospital cancer and eye appeal and Alveston Primary School in Tiddington – saw more than 450 guests enjoy a five-course meal, entertainment including bhangra dancers, live music and an auction.
Speaking afterwards, Ala Uddin, restaurant owner said: “It means so much to me to pay it forward to those who need it most while celebrating 20 years of Aladdin’s and to see 450 familiar faces from the local community supporting such worthwhile charities was overwhelming.
“I am delighted the event raised £15,000, which will be split between Stratford Hospital’s Fundraising Appeal and Alveston C of E Primary School.
“We look forward to your continued support and we hope to organise another similar event in the future.”
And Ali Gray, hospital fund-raising manager added: “The gala event at Aladdin’s was a fantastic evening and I would like to thank Ala and his family for organising and hosting such a successful fund-raiser.
“We are extremely grateful for all the support the event received and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that kindly sponsored the evening, attended on the night and donated prizes for the auction.”
