Charity raffle prizes thieved by cinema goers

Stratford Editorial 20th Mar, 2018   0

THIEVES were unable to keep their paws to themselves when they stole teddies intended for a charity raffle.

Volunteer Philip Caldicott donated a Peter Rabbit toy to the Everyman Cinema – which is screening the new film about his adventures – to be auctioned off in aid of Stratford Foodbank.

And while Peter is still guarding what is left of the prizes, two smaller rabbits donated by the Beatrix Potter shop Timeless Tales in Stratford, have been taken.

Manager Marc Pantling said it was a sad someone had stolen the rabbits, but thanked all those who had backed the fundraising drive to date.

He added: “We have already raised £300 for a wonderful charity and hope to raise a lot more before we do the prize draw next Monday (March 26).”
