CITIZENS Advice South Warwickshire is celebrating a donation of £55,000 from Stratford Town Trust.
Over the past year the Meer Street-based service has helped nearly 2,000 residents in the district with more than 7,000 different issues – mainly to do with benefits, debt, housing and employment problems.
Chair Yvonne Hunter said the service which is not fully government funded, has to raise funds just like any other charity.
She added: ” Having long term supporters like the Town Trust is invaluable. It helps ensure continuity of our services and is a platform from which we can raise other funds.
“We continue to see people with more complex issues that require urgent attention. This includes helping people who are threatened with homelessness and residents who lack basic necessities such as food and fuel”.
The grant will not only go to providing free advice but it will enable the service to visit people, who are not otherwise able, at home.
