Council asks for residents' help tidying up district

THE COUNCIL is on a mission to clean up the district – but it needs help from residents.

Back in July, Stratford District Council launched a new app and website – www.tellmycouncil.co.uk/stratford – giving people the chance to report issues directly to them.

It was hoped the technology would help facilitate and speed up the problem reporting process for residents.

And having been impressed by the positive response so far, the council is keen to encourage people to continue flagging up issues such as fly tipping in the district.

In addition to fly tipping, the website, which allows someone to identify a problem, pinpoint its location and add pictures where necessary, can also be used to report issues such as full street bins, dead animals on the road, litter on public land and graffiti.

District council technical services spokesman, Coun Mike Brain, said: “People don’t realise how big our district is and the whole area it covers.

“We need people out and about to help be our eyes and ears on the ground and we need to make it as simple as possible for people to make contact with us.

“Most people have a mobile phone these days so being able to use this technology when you’re on the move helps us all.”
