STRATFORD District Council is on the right track.
That was the verdict of a Local Government Association team from other local authorities which carried out a recent review.
Over two days the team spoke with staff and councillors, together with partner organisations including Warwickshire County Council, the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). The relationship with partners was deemed as “constructive and encouraging”.
The review concluded the council’s leadership also “recognises the future financial challenges’ and that using reserves to balance revenue was unsustainable in the long term and plans were in place to generate sustainable income in the years ahead.
And the review team was also keen to see the council build “on the clear strengths of the district” and focus on where it could further benefit the wider West Midlands region.
