AN elderly dog who bolted during a thunderstorm has been reunited with her relieved owner.

Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross Sadie was in her owner’s garden in Welford when a clap of thunder spooked her on Thursday (May 31).

The scared 14-year-old dog ran through a thick hedge and made off towards Stratford.

There were no sightings of the pooch for some days – but on Tuesday (June 5) she was spotted walking along the main road at Dodwell.

Owner Jude Halperin, who had searched tirelessly for her timid dog, told the Observer she was relieved and that the pup was ‘traumatised but unhurt’.

She said: “Thank you so much to everyone who was concerned and on the lookout for us.”
