FIREFIGHTERS tackled a late night blaze involving around 400 straw bales in a field near Southam.

Three engines were called to land off Welsh Road West shortly after 11.30pm on Thursday (January 28).

It is understood the flames were blazing for well over an hour but regular assessments were made by firefighters before they allowed the fire to burn out safely.

The area is currently being damped down.

No-one was injured.
