Folklore favourite Dick Whittington to take to the stage in Stratford

FOLKLORE hero Dick Whittington is trundling onto the stage at Stratford Playhouse.

And his cheeky cat Tommy, friend Sarah the Cook and Fairy Godmother Fairy Bowbells will be joining him there from December 20 to 31.

Audiences will be transported to medieval London terrorised by the dastardly King Rat whose four-legged army is taking over the city.

Can Dick save the day and win the heart of the delightful Alice Fitzwarren? Or will their jealous friend Idle Jack join forces with King Rat and ruin their plans?

The cast is an ensemble of local and national actors including Sarah Bottoms as Dick, Chris Ponka as Sarah, and local actors Georgie Wood as Fairy Bowbells and Emily Tomlinson as Tommy the Cat.

Playhouse manager Rebecca Hallworth said: “We’re really looking forward to the show and are excited about having such a wonderfully talented mix of performers from Stratford and beyond.”
