Foodbank appeals for help with storage

Stratford Editorial 6th Oct, 2017   0

STRATFORD foodbank needs help to store its winter stock.

The foodbank is receiving an influx of food following harvest festival celebrations.

And organisers need help to store around 15 boxes of food in preparation for a busy winter.

The foodbank – which operates from a cabin in Tesco car park – has seen a surge in users this year with last year’s average monthly figure of 100 rising to 150.

Users are provided a nutritiously-balanced parcel to those who have received a voucher from a professional such as a doctor or social worker.

Manager Marion Homer said: “As the winter months draw on we always see a seasonal increase as those in crises often find themselves choosing between fuel and food. So you can see our problem – finding some additional storage space seems like a sensible way to prepare for what we believe will be very busy winter.”
