Foodbank receives much-needed replenish

Stratford Editorial 30th Apr, 2017   0

CHARITABLE residents stepped up to the plate to help Stratford Foodbank.

Nearly 1.5 tonnes of dried and tinned food was collected at Morrisons during a recent collection.

The donation has provided a much-needed boost for the foodbank which provides a nutritiously-balanced parcel to those with a voucher from a professional such as a doctor or social worker.

Foodbank manager Marina Dunn, said: “The shoppers at Morrisons have shown incredible generosity by donating nearly 1.5 tonnes of food to local people in need and we’re grateful to them and the team at Morrisons who’ve been so supportive. Whilst it is a fabulous achievement we must remember that the Foodbank faces a continual rising demand.

“We still need people to provide their ongoing support both in terms of actual food donations and volunteering to join our busy team.”

Recent figures have shown a sharp rise in the numbers of users, which organisers believe is due to benefit delays and low income.
