Former Kineton care home set to become flats

Stratford Editorial 12th Feb, 2017   0

FLATS are set to be built on the site of a former Kineton care home.

Haven House on Warwick Road shut its doors early last year after being rated ‘inadequate’ by the Care Quality Commission and having its care contract with Warwickshire County Council terminated.

The building’s owner Maurice Hermon submitted plans to turn the 28-bedroom building into ten flats, which were greeted by objections from nearby residents concerned about parking and noise.

The 19th century building would be partly demolished to make way for a communal garden while an extension will be built on the first floor.

The site would consist of nine two-bedroom flats, one single-bedroom flat and ten parking spaces.

*PLANS to build 135 homes in Barford have been submitted to Warwick District Council.

Gladman Developments are hoping to build on land off the Wellesbourne Road in the village, near to The Granville Pub.

Around 50 of the new builds – 40 per cent – would be affordable housing and the plans include creating a new footpath and cycle route as well as improvements to Wasperton Lane.

Funding would also be provided to maintain the King George’s Playing Fields near the church which had a community-funded remodel last year.
