Former RAF hangar could be demolished to make way for new homes

A FORMER RAF hangar could be demolished to make way for new homes.

Airmanship Hall on Snitterfield Road, which is owned by the Bartlett family, is currently used as office space for their business Planet Exhibitions.

But if the family’s plans are given the green light the hall – which is situated on a former military base used in both world wars – will be demolished and nearby land developed to make way for four new state-of-the-art homes.

The four-bedroom properties would have flat roofs, stone and timber cladding to fit in with surrounding woodland and lots of windows to let in natural light.

The plans read: “The existing hangar reflects the use and nature of the last remaining building of the wider military base on and around the site.

“We propose to redevelop the hangar having less of a physical impact on the settling, nestling into the woodland sensitively.”
