Free parking in Stratford for Thursday festive shoppers

CHRISTMAS shopping nights will mean free parking for Stratford residents and visitors.

Town centre shoppers will not have to pay for car parking, in selected district council car parks, on Thursday evenings in the run up to Christmas.

Stratford District Council is offering free parking in council-run car parks, excluding Bridgeway multi storey and Bridgeway surface every Thursday from December 3 to 17, from 4pm until midnight.

The council car parks include those in Arden Street, Church Street, recreation ground, the leisure centre, Swans Nest Lane and Windsor Street.

District councillor Ian Shenton said: “We have run this free-parking offer successfully for a number of years and is a positive way that the district council can demonstrate its support for local businesses and the local community.

“This year has been a very difficult year for everyone and as we are currently in a high tier it is now even more important that we shop locally, support our businesses and remember to socially distance – visit safe and stay safe.”
