The Observer was first told about the bird by members of staff who were concerned for its welfare as the friendly animal had taken to hiding underneath the shelves.
Some claimed managers had refused to call the RSPCA because it would ‘cost them money’ to have them visit the store – although these claims have been refuted.
The RSPCA were first called about the bird on Friday morning (October 30) by the Observer.
An officer went out to the store but was unable to catch the illusive creature.
Originally it was claimed the Robin was only in the store for a short time two days ago and had since been set free.
But after, further sightings this was proven not the case.
A Tesco spokesman said: “We’re working to catch and release the bird and have contacted the RSPCA to help and advise us.”
He added the claims about the RSPCA were not correct.
