Future uncertain for burger chain planned for Bell Court

Stratford Editorial 17th Jan, 2018   0

RESTAURANT chain Byron Burgers may not be coming to Stratford’s newly refurbished Bell Court.

The gourmet burger restaurant – whose planned arrival was announced last year – is currently looking to cut costs in the face of growing high street competition.

A financial plan includes the possible 20 closures of its UK-wide restaurants, and the yet-to-open Stratford branch is among those posed as ‘at risk’.

Outlets recently opened in the £30million square include Ask Italian, Nandos, All Bar One, Italian wine bar Veeno and Miller and Carter steakhouse.

And those still to come include Magic Alley, which is moving in from Henley Street, and women’s fashion outlet Seasalt.

John Stacey from UK and European Investments – which owns the lease to Bell Court – said: “We are aware of Byron’s situation and are currently in discussions with them about the restaurant’s future at Bell Court.”

When contacted, the restaurant was unable to confirm whether the Stratford venue would go ahead or not.
