ENVIRONMENTALISTS in Stratford are preparing to welcome Green Party co-leader Sian Berry.

She is planning to visit community run projects on Friday February 22, including Rubbish Friends at Snitterfield, and the Heart of England’s community solar farm on Alcester Road.

She will also speak on ‘Staying in a Greener Europe’ at a Stratford4Europe meeting. The talk will focus on climate change, threats to the environment and the protection of human rights.

Stratford Green Party chair Duncan Parker said: “We are delighted that we will be able to show Sian some of the environmentally-friendly projects around Stratford.

“We also hope to discuss the traffic congestion and pollution problems in Stratford and the sustainable solutions that the Green Party can offer.”

Sian joined the Green Party in 2001, driven by a passion to fight globalised capitalism and climate breakdown.

She is also a member of the London Assembly where she campaigns on a range of issues including homelessness, youth services, renting rights and civil liberties.

The Stratford4Europe meeting will be held at Stratford Girls Grammar School from 7pm.

Entry is free but places must be booked. Visit www.eventbrite.co.uk to book.
