THE DODGY dealings of Shakespeare’s dad John will be the focus of a talk next week.
Professor Glyn Parry is giving a talk at Shakespeare’s Schoolroom and Guildhall in Stratford, where John would have been tried for illegal money lending and wool dealing.
The historian recently discovered 16th century manuscripts revealing some of the cases continued longer than first thought and resulted in large fines to the Queen, damaging John’s business career, and forcing his retirement from Stratford Town Council.
The Untold Stories of John Shakespeare is on Monday November 26, at 5.30pm.
