Historical church bags lottery grant

A VILLAGE church has bagged lottery funding for much-needed repairs.

All Saints Church in Ladbroke near Southam has been awarded £47,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund for its project ‘All Saints for All Generations’.

It aims to carry out essential repairs to the 13th century church and enable people to find out about its heritage. The repairs will stabilise the tower, walls and windows.

A range of activities, including dementia-friendly experiences, are planned to allow residents and visitors to discover more about the church.

Rev Craig Groocock described the church as a local treasure and said it had been a spiritual home for thousands of people over the centuries.

Church warden Jackie West added: “We are delighted that we’ve received this support from National Lottery players to help us start making Ladbroke Church’s All Saints for All Generations project a reality.

“It’s not just about repairing the ravages of time on the building, essential though that it is, but also sharing our heritage with people

of all ages.

“We are especially keen to use it to brighten the lives of people who feel isolated or excluded due to their own condition or caring responsibilities.”
