Hotel couple revisit for their big day

Stratford Editorial 21st May, 2018   0

A COUPLE who fell in love while working together at a Stratford hotel had little trouble deciding where to hold their wedding.

Breakfast supervisor Kay Sabin met Miles Giddings on his first day of starting work as a bar assistant at the Macdonald Alveston Manor Hotel “From the outset Kay looked after me,” said 27-year-old Miles, who had arrived from South Africa.

“She helped me to settle into life in the UK, explaining about council tax and things like that. She has a very caring nature and I think that’s really rare.”

Things took a step forward when Miles invited 25-year-old Kay out for fish and chips and eventually the couple got engaged on holiday in Kefalonia, although the proposal did not come as a complete surprise.

Kay said: “I kept telling him that I was wife material.”

When it came to picking a venue for their wedding, Kay, who now works for a case management company, and Miles, who works for a telecoms company, both knew the Clopton Bridge hotel was the only choice.

Miles’ parents now live in East Sussex, but his best man is flying in from South Africa for the big day on June 23 and before heading off for a delayed honeymoon to Rhodes in September.
