LIGHTS, cameras, dance – The Traditional Ilmington Morris Men danced a merry jig which could see them on national television.

The side – the name for a morris dancing group – took part in the countryside celebration BBC Countryfile Live at Blenheim Palace near Oxford at the weekend.

The Ilmington School Morris Dancers also went along and dancers from the village could well be coming to a tv screen soon when the programme from the event is aired.

It came hot on the heels of success for the Ilmington side at the Sidmouth Folk Festival.

Members Graham Lee, dancing the Ilmington Broom Dance, accompanied by musician Paul Bryan, won the prestigious Audience Appeal Prize.

And there is a chance to catch The Traditional Ilmington Morris Men in action when they perform tonight in Broadway at The Crown & Trumpet Inn from 8pm. They will be joined by Happenstance Border Morris Dancers and Shakespeare Morris.
